A Magical Evening Marks Belcourt Village’s First Christmas Lighting Ceremony

Bolthouse Properties was proud to host the inaugural Christmas Lighting Ceremony at Belcourt Village, launching a new tradition that brought families, friends, neighbors, and community partners together in the heart of Seven Oaks.

Guests enjoyed a festive evening filled with seasonal activities, including a hot cocoa and biscotti bar by Vecchio’s, visits with Santa and the Grinch, and opportunities to dine and shop throughout the center. Families also participated in a holiday craft station, where attendees decorated ornaments and hung them on the Seven Oaks Christmas tree, adding a meaningful, personal touch to the celebration.

The evening’s ceremony featured a thoughtfully curated program showcasing local schools, partners, and residents. Pastor Eric Van Scharrel from St. John’s Lutheran Church served as the evening’s “Master of Ceremonies,” welcoming performances by the Boy Scouts of America Troop 484, Stockdale High School’s Brass Quintet and Jazz Ensemble, and the Bakersfield College Chamber Choir, along with a special reading of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from Belcourt Seven Oaks resident Dr. Emmanuel Mourtzanos and his daughter, Abigail. Pastor Eric also shared a heartfelt holiday reflection, reminding guests of the meaning of Christmas.

The ceremony concluded with Santa Claus leading the official countdown to the Christmas tree lighting, followed by a joyful community sing along of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” conducted by Santa alongside Bakersfield College choir director, Dr. Jennifer Garrett — creating a truly magical finale.

The inaugural Christmas Lighting Ceremony was a beautiful way to celebrate the spirit of the season, foster community connection, and begin a new holiday tradition. Bolthouse Properties looks forward to continuing this cherished event and creating joyful memories for the Seven Oaks community for years to come.

  • A Season for Gratitude

    A Season for Gratitude

How Bolthouse Brings the Holidays Home

As the lights go up and Bakersfield settles into the rhythm of the season, there’s a familiar sense of togetherness that seems to bloom across the neighborhood. It’s in the shop windows dressed for winter, in the glow spilling from neighborhood gatherings, and in the sense of joy that lingers long this time of year. For Bolthouse Properties, such moments are the ones that bridge place and community.

Across Seven Oaks, that vision has been woven into every park, plaza, and neighborhood street. From the tree-lined trails that wind through Belcourt to the family-friendly events that fill The Point with music and light, Bolthouse has long believed that the spaces we share shape the stories we tell. It’s why their work doesn’t end with the master plan but continues in the ways people gather, celebrate, and connect.

This year, those connections have felt more meaningful than ever. At Belcourt Village, events like AutumnFest brought families together for pumpkin patches, balloon art, and the smell of local food drifting through the plaza. The Holiday Pop Up Shop at The Shoppes at Seven Oaks Business Park will transform an ordinary weekend into a winter market, a place where local vendors, festive music, and the magic of Santa’s visit create new traditions for families who call Bakersfield home. Soon after, the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Belcourt Village will cast its own glow across the plaza, a reminder that even brief moments of gathering can leave a lasting warmth.

For Bolthouse Properties, these events are reflections of a larger purpose. “Our goal has always been to create places that connect people,” says Jeff Eittreim, Sr. Vice President of Development at Bolthouse Properties. “When our properties become the backdrop for these shared experiences, we know we’re doing something right.” It’s a philosophy that extends far beyond the holiday season, informing every new project and partnership.

The result is a community designed to inspire connection: neighborhoods where sidewalks lead to coffee shops, where business parks hum with local enterprise, and where open spaces become stages for celebration. In Bakersfield, that sense of belonging has become something of a Bolthouse signature, thoughtful design meeting heartfelt purpose.

As 2026 approaches, Bolthouse looks ahead with the same mix of optimism and gratitude that defines its work. The year ahead promises new developments, expanded retail offerings, and continued investment in the local economy, and all with the same commitment to community stewardship that has guided the company for decades.

But for now, as December settles in and lights shimmer across Seven Oaks, the focus is on the joy at hand. It’s in the simple act of gathering, of seeing familiar faces in familiar places. It’s in knowing that home isn’t simply where you live but where you belong.

Here’s to the year we’ve shared, and to the many celebrations still to come.

  • The Shape of a Holiday Season

The Shape of a Holiday Season

Tree lightings, pop-up shops, and neighborhood squares reveal how a city comes to recognize itself.

As the holidays edge closer, Bakersfield begins to take on a certain kind of glow. Lights thread themselves through trees and rooftops, music permeates public squares, and neighbors find themselves in the same spaces, lingering a little longer than usual. What emerges is the choreography of community.

Much of that choreography has, over the years, been shaped quietly by Bolthouse Properties, a company that has made a practice of cultivating the kinds of places where tradition can take root.

This season, as in years past, Bakersfield residents will gather in settings designed less for transaction than connection. On Saturday, December 6, The Shoppes at Seven Oaks Business Park will host its Holiday Pop-Up Shop, a five-hour occasion that braids together shopping, music, and play. Families will wander past stalls stocked by local businesses, children will sit elbow-to-elbow at craft tables, and Santa (between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM) will pose for photographs that cost nothing but attention. The event is equal parts commerce and ritual, a chance to discover new goods while stitching another memory into the fabric of family holidays.

A few days later, on Thursday, December 11, Belcourt Village will stage its first annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The celebration is, by design, communal. Students from local schools provide the soundtrack, their voices carrying across the plaza as the tree comes to life. The moment is a collective pause, a recognition that such traditions, however brief, reaffirm the sense that Bakersfield is a community bound by shared pride.

For Bolthouse Properties, the staging of these events point to a larger ambition. The company’s developments (retail centers, parks, neighborhood squares), are conceived as backdrops for life, places where milestones are marked and memory accrues. More than two-thirds of the businesses across their retail properties are locally owned. It’s an ethos. To shop here is to keep dollars within the city, to reinforce Bakersfield’s entrepreneurial spirit, and to underwrite the viability of family-run enterprises.

So this December, whether you’re browsing the Pop-Up Shop or standing in the crowd at Belcourt Village as the tree is illuminated, bear in mind that the moment is larger than the event itself. It’s part of a pattern, one that continues to build Bakersfield’s collective memory, quietly, insistently, year after year.

  • AutumnFest at Belcourt Village: A Celebration of Community and Fall Fun

AutumnFest at Belcourt Village: A Celebration of Community and Fall Fun

Memories from October 4th’s first annual AutumnFest at Belcourt Village still linger with warmth and gratitude. Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make this new Seven Oaks tradition such a joyful success.

From balloon twisting and face painting to seasonal décor and artisan goods, the day was filled with creativity and community spirit. Families browsed local vendor booths and enjoyed neighborhood favorites like Vecchio’s, Sonder, Toastique, 19th Hole Bar & Grill, Woodbridge Pacific Group, Greet Seven Oaks, Cherry Acres, and many more who came together to make AutumnFest unforgettable.

Live music from “Happy Five German Band” and “Last Call” brought the perfect mix of instrumental polka music and classic rock ‘n’ roll that everyone enjoyed. Families gathered to play Jenga, Cornhole, and Connect Four, soaking up the crisp fall air and the vibrant atmosphere of Belcourt Village.

AutumnFest was everything we hoped it would be – a day of connection, celebration, and community – the heart of what Seven Oaks is all about. We look forward to continuing this fall tradition at Belcourt Village next year!

  • Radiant Waxing Arrives in Belcourt Village, Redefining Self-Care in Bakersfield

Radiant Waxing Arrives in Belcourt Village, Redefining Self-Care in Bakersfield

Later this year, Belcourt Village, Southwest Bakersfield’s curated retail enclave, will welcome a new addition: Radiant Waxing, a full-service salon devoted to one simple mission: helping people feel confident in their own skin. But the salon, locally owned by Pritesh and Mira Patel, represents something beyond hair removal. It’s a study in how small businesses shape community, culture, and the very way a city sees itself.

Part of the WellBiz Brands family, which also includes Drybar, Radiant Waxing offers a comprehensive menu of waxing services for all genders, along with specialty brow and lash treatments, set to arrive in early 2026. Its interiors are sleek but approachable: clean lines, soft lighting, and a modern boutique aesthetic that signals both comfort and professionalism. The space, the Patels say, is a “come as you are” environment, an antidote to the judgment many associate with personal grooming.

“Just like the moon, we all go through phases,” said Mira Patel, explaining the salon’s ethos. “Hair is natural; there’s no reason to hide from being human. We’re here to celebrate every phase you’re in.” That philosophy informs everything from the salon’s design to the way staff interact with clients, emphasizing body positivity, self-expression, and personal care.

Radiant Waxing will employ speed-waxing techniques designed to combine precision with comfort, offering services from full-body waxing to brow lamination, brow tinting, and lash lifts. Each appointment is intended to be personalized, creating a boutique experience in which the ritual of grooming becomes one of empowerment rather than obligation.

For the Patels, opening the salon in Belcourt Village was both strategic and personal. The couple previously brought Drybar to the location in early 2024, establishing a reputation for meticulous service and local engagement. Growing up in families that ran small businesses, they saw firsthand how entrepreneurship could cultivate community. “Bakersfield is what you make it,” Mira notes. “If you give back to Bakersfield, it gives back to you.”

The choice of Belcourt Village also reflects an ongoing collaboration with Bolthouse Properties, whose commitment to walkable, community-oriented spaces has created a supportive ecosystem for independent businesses. “We wanted a location where people could linger, explore, and feel part of something larger than themselves,” the Patels said.

To mark the opening, Radiant Waxing will offer introductory promotions, including 50 percent off unlimited Brazilian or Manzilian monthly memberships and select buy-one-get-one deals. But beyond promotions, the salon carries a broader ambition: to cultivate confidence, self-care, and a sense of belonging in a city increasingly defined by its independent businesses.
